    The CCHS drama class is currently in rehearsals for the upcoming dinner theater “Inn Trouble” on December 7th at 6 p.m. The murder mystery takes place in a rundown hotel in New York City, where several vloggers are staying for a weekend.     Sixteen chapter members and 64 guests attended the annual CCHS FFA year-end banquet on Monday in the school's Tuggle Room. CCHS FCCLA served a meal to attendees.     On September 2, the Carter County FCCLA Chapter (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) painted blue Bulldog paws that begin on Speelmon Street and end at the school. Fourteen members and one future member were present. After they painted the paws the chapter went back to the school to Mrs. Amy Walker's FCS room where they enjoyed pizza, lemonade and ice cream.     On February 22, Natural Resources Conservation Service and the Carter County Conservation District hosted an adaptive management workshop. Throughout the day there were around forty-five people at Carter County Event Center. Kevin Sedivec, NDSU Professor and Rangeland Management Specialist, came to Ekalaka to speak at the event. Sedivec presented how to adapt management for extreme weather, grazing concepts and his patch-burn grazing study. Several local producers also presented their key management concepts.     The CCHS Drama class is once again presenting a dinner theater. The Baseball Diamond, stars Jaden Pardee (junior), Zander Ashbrook and Travis Shallenberger (freshmen), and Sadie Poppema (7th grade).     Earlier this year, local teen Katie Tooke was battling health problems. She spent almost an entire month seriously ill before finally being diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder. That was about the same time everything got shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic. Ekalaka Public Schools went to online instruction from March 16 through the end of the 2020-2021 school year.     On February 28, a retirement party for Robin Markuson, County Executive Director at the USDA Farm Service Agency, was held at Carter County Events Center. Markuson started with the FSA in 1984 as a temporary employee, then became a full time program technician, spent 17 years as a loan officer and has spent the last five and a half years as the executive director.     Southeast Electric Cooperative held an annual meeting last Friday. After several year's of holding the meeting at Carter County High School, employees decided to try something new this year and instead held the meeting at the truck shop behind the cooperative building. Last year, 231 people were served at the meeting. This year 264 total guests, including 160 members, were served.     Dahl Memorial Healthcare Association’s Annual Health Fair blood draw is scheduled for April 16, 17 and 18, from 6 to 10 a.m. at the Carter County Events Center. The cost for the basic blood draw panel is $35. Men can have a PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) checked for an additional $25.     On Tuesday, January 8, the CCHS Drama class will present “What’s in a Name?.” This “whodunit” was written by the drama class as last quarter’s class project. Prior to writing the play, students watched “Murder on the Orient Express,” “Clue,” and “Rear Window” in order to get a feel for the murder mystery genre.
