Tanner Fix took third place in the 110m hurdles at the top ten track meet on Tuesday.

Carter County High School track and field standout Tanner Fix recently signed with South Dakota School of Mines.

Fix is primarily known for being a hurdler and has been to the Montana state track meet every year of his high school career. He has already qualified this year. Additionally, he was selected to compete in track and field in Australia last summer with the "Down Under Sports" program.

On Tuesday at the north/east top ten track meet in Glasgow, Fix posted a personal best in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.62. That time was good enough for third place behind Cleet Wrzesinski of Baker and Luke Breigenzer of Glasgow. He won the 300 meter hurdles at the top ten meet with a time of 42.13 and has posted personal bests in the 300 meter hurdles (41.07) and long jump (19' 31/4") this year.

While at SD School of Mines, Fix plans to study electrical engineering. He has been Academic All-State in all four years of high school.

"I am proud to be a Hardrocker because I have loved every sport that I have competed in," Fix said. "However, track is by far my favorite sport. When I was given the chance to continue competing after high school I was overwhelmed with joy. It will be an honor to compete at a school that will help me better myself as an athlete and as a student."
