2017 pet parade rarin' to go

Heads up pet paraders, the twenty-three year old Carter County Pet Parade is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 11, at the bleacher area of the fairgrounds. Sign-up will take place from 11am until noon. Sponsors of this year’s parade are Carter County Fair Board and Marshall Ranch.

This fun event includes participants from the ages of 0 to 80+. Those who participate can even win a few bucks which they may want to use during the Days of ‘85. There is no age limit or entry fee required—all one has to do is come with a pet and be decked out colorfully.

Decorating categories this year are:

1. Famine or Feast (keeping with the Days of ’85 theme, “Pioneer Days to Modern Ways”)

2. Wacky, Tacky, Crazy-Odds and Ends (whatever comes to mind)

Cash prizes will be awarded. Twenty-five dollars will be given to the judges’ overall favorite participant. First place in each category will receive $15, second place will receive $10, third place will receive $7.50, and all entries that do not place will be awarded $5.00

Round up those pets and get the creative juices flowing.

The three judges, announcer, ringmaster, and tally master will be announced in next week’s paper. Everyone is invited to come out and have a bunch of fun at the 2017 pet parade.
