Memorial Day activities, May 28

Memorial Day services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 28, at Beaver Lodge Cemetery. Veterans performing the services should arrive at 10:30 a.m. During the service, members of VFW Auxiliary will honor fallen soldiers by placing a white cross and a red, poppy covered wreath in the center of the cemetery.

Members of the VFW Auxiliary will provide Buddy poppies and receive donations, with all the money going to help veterans. Displays downtown will also offer Buddy poppies and provide containers to receive donations.

There will be a picnic and social at the Events Center following the cemetery services. The picnic is being sponsored by the VFW Auxiliary, which asks that locals who plan to attend the event bring a salad or dessert. The Auxiliary will provide meat, condiments and beverages for the event.

Members of the Auxiliary feel the event will provide an opportunity for visitors, friends and relatives in town for Memorial Day to get together and share memories.
