    Last week, county commissioners unanimously voted to change the name of the new healthcare facility currently under construction in Ekalaka. The new facility will be named "Carter County Healthcare Facility," and will be dedicated to the taxpayers of Carter County, according to unofficial commission meeting minutes.   • Track & Arena holds meeting

    Ekalaka Track and Arena members held an annual meeting at 7 p.m. on February 21. With seventy-five percent of shares represented at the meeting, the two-thirds majority required for a quorum was met. A financial report was given and showed a small net loss over the last year. In new business, three director positions were up for election as their terms had expired at the end of 2020. Jeff Elmore, Ches Meyer and incumbent TJ Strub were elected to fill the vacant positions.     Frankie Seaman Reid celebrated her 101st birthday at her daughter Janet Morgan's home in Arizona City, AZ on Feb. 2. Reid lived in Rosebud for 67 years, moving with her daughter shortly before her 100th birthday. Reid said she doesn't feel any older than she did 20 years ago. She misses her friends in Rosebud and with the pandemic she has had no company and as a friendly outgoing person that has been difficult for her.     CCHS will head to the Southern C Divisional in Laurel for the first time since 2019 when they defeated Broadus to finish third at the district tournament. That win came on a last second steal and score from then freshman, Turner Tooke. This year's third place finish at districts ended in another close game, this time over Wibaux.     The Carter County High School Lady Bulldogs won the District 4C Tournament for the second time in the last four years in Miles City on Saturday night. The 'Dogs finished second to Wibaux in 2018, beat Wibaux for the Championship in 2019, finished second to Melstone in 2020, and defeated Melstone in this year's championship game.     The Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission in its February meeting approved increasing the fall black bear quota in Fish, Wildlife & Parks’ Bear Management Unit 700 from eight to 12 bears.
