Area veteran organizations will be holding a Memorial Day service Monday, May 31 at Beaver Lodge Cemetery in Ekalaka. The traditional ceremony was not held last year in deference to COVID-19 restrictions. The service starts at 11 a.m. There will be a picnic and social at Carter County Events Center following the cemetery services. The picnic is being sponsored by the VFW Auxiliary, which asks that locals who plan to attend the event bring a salad or dessert. The Auxiliary will provide meat, condiments and beverages. Funeral Services for William "Bill" Randash, 89, of Baker were held May 24, 2021 at the American Lutheran Church with Pastor Scott Kiehn officiating. Rosalie "Rosie or Rody" Tegen passed away surrounded by her family on May 18, 2021. Rosie was a well-loved citizen of Stayton, Oregon. She was born in Ekalaka, Montana on January 11, 1944 to Lora and Iva Mary Ludwick. The family moved to Stayton in 1952. Sadly, her husband, Ronald Tegen passed away on September 5, 2010. One sophomore and two freshman will represent CCHS at the MHSA Class AA-C State Track & Field Meet in Missoula this weekend. On the men's side, freshman Ethan Frye will compete in the 110 meter and 300 meter hurdles.
