    Seventy-five years and counting. Southeast Electric Cooperative’s annual meeting held on June 11 was a huge success. Over three hundred attendees, 155 of which were members, enjoyed steak, hamburgers, hotdogs, salads, beans, cake and ice cream. Two hundred thirty-one people were served at the co-op’s last annual meeting in 2019.   • County re-implements Stage I fire restrictions

    Carter County is again moving into Stage I fire restrictions, beginning at midnight on Friday, June 25, 2021. The announcement comes after continued high temperatures and drought conditions have plagued the area. Last week, the Eagle reported that record high temperatures were reached on six of the first 15 days in June. Alfred and Avis Stieg moved back to the area from Washington in 1971 after Alfred completed a two-week agent training course at a center in Freemont Nebraska operated by the Standard Oil Division of American Oil Company.     The Gumbo Gophers 4-H Club is hosting a community barbecue to support the Alzada Fire Department at 6:30 p.m. on June 30th at the Alzada Hall.
