    Joe Henry Liss, 70, of Eureka, MT passed away at his home on July 12, 2018. Joe was born October 20, 1947 in Deadwood, SD to Steve & Annie (Williams) Liss. Joe grew up in the Powder River Breaks on a ranch near Ekalaka, MT. Joe was a cowboy and a well driller, drilling for oil, gold and water.   • Blood drive numbers up

    The local blood drive held last week saw another increase in numbers, producing an impressive twenty-nine units of blood. All 12 donors who made appointments turned out and another 12 walk-ins came through the door. Seven double units were collected. Marilyn Schultz won a gift card to Rambling Rose as a door prize. Four new donors also received tee-shirts. The goal for the drive was achieved. The next blood drive in Ekalaka has been scheduled for September 18 at Carter County Events Center....

    Jedediah Keith Larson was sentenced to 10 years with five suspended on a felony charge of aggravated assault Tuesday. The charges stem from events that took place on the evening of March 10, 2017 and early into the next morning in Ekalaka. Larson was found guilty of aggravated assault and of partner or family member assault, a misdemeanor, on May 17 of this year.
