The public is invited to attend the Carter County 4-H and FFA livestock market sale on Saturday, August 13, beginning at 3:30 p.m. The annual sale will take place at the fairgrounds show arena in Ekalaka. As always, buyers will have a choice in which processor to take their animal(s) to. The families of the youth selling their market animals will do their best to deliver the animals to the processor. The Gumbo Gophers 4-H club recently held their annual community barbecue and fundraiser for the Alzada Fire Department and their club. The 4-H Club wants to thank all those who attended and made the evening a successful event. A great meal was enjoyed by all. Fun games and a dunk tank were the highlight of the evening. The Carter County Fair board and Alkali, Inc. are excited to see what the community comes up with for the fair’s pet parade this year. The theme is “How the West was won in Carter County.” Dress your pet and yourselves depicting your idea of how Carter County donated to settling the west. Greg and Susan Tooke moved to Ekalaka in 1976. With a degree in veterinary medicine, Greg had always wanted to return home to set up a vet clinic. Susan was dubious but was in lust at the time, and would go anywhere as long as it was with Greg. They have been together 53 years! Funeral service for Lynn Householder, 93, of Ismay, MT, will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 28, 2022 at American Lutheran Church in Baker, MT. Ron was born in Ekalaka, MT on May 9, 1932. He passed away on July 20, 2022 in Dallas, TX due to a stroke, exacerbated by Alzheimer's. His life had a hardscrabble beginning, but his natural leadership qualities, sense of self-assurance, work ethic, and desire to experience new things helped create opportunities that led to a long and fulfilling life. The 4-H Fair is this week in our county. I hope all moms and dads remember there is a fine line between extremely supportive and downright crazy! Having been a 4-H mom, I can tell you it is much less stressful to be a 4-H grandma! 4-H and FFA Fairs are a huge success every year due to the hard work of the Extension staff, the FFA advisors, the kids, the parents, the grandparents, and a lot of supportive volunteers.
