The CCHS drama class has once again written their own play. This year’s production, “A Murder of Crows: a Very Fowl Play,” will be performed on Thursday, December 12 at 6 p.m. in the CCHS gym. The play is the story of a mismatched group of misfits, trying to figure out who killed the king. Dinner, consisting of chicken cordon bleu and twice-baked potatoes, will be served during intermission. Ekalaka Public Schools music department will host a Christmas concert on Monday, December 16. A chili dinner along with salad, breadsticks and dessert will be served at 4:30 p.m. The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. Ekalaka Elementary students will present a small, Christmas show called “The Lights of the Holidays” to begin the program. Ekalaka Volunteer Fire Department members held the drawing for their annual gun raffle fundraiser this week. Stephanie Carroll of Ekalaka was the lucky grand prize winner this year. Carroll won a Howa 7mm-08 rifle. Local Karen Hammel won Leupold binoculars as the second place prize. The third place prize this year, a wildlife print, was won by Lester Phillippi of Hammond. Sagebrush Service Club is once again sponsoring a Christmas lights contest. Judges will be out and about on December 16 this year and would like people to have their lights on by 5:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for the top three places in this year’s contest. This year the club is also challenging each business to decorate windows or outside of their building to bring some additional Christmas spirit to the streets of Ekalaka. Last week, the Eagle reported that Mid-Rivers Communications recently announced that the cooperative awarded fourteen educational technology grants to educational facilities and non-profit entities around the Mid-Rivers service area. Brennan Graham is headed to Vegas this Friday to compete in the Junior World Finals (JNFR). The Carter County High School junior finished fifth in steer wrestling in the state of Montana back in June, narrowly missing nationals as the top four from each state get to compete. Parks (73), of Camp Crook, South Dakota, formerly of Billings and Miles City, Montana, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with complications from surgery in Denver, Colorado at UC Health Hospital on Nov. 19, 2019, with her family by her side.
