A referee mix-up (or possible shortage) led to an interesting situation during the varsity football contest between CCHS and Lodge Grass on September 8th in Lodge Grass. Only one MHSA official made it to the game, so two individuals were pulled from the Indians' sideline and two were pulled from the Bulldogs' sideline. Eight CCHS student-athletes traveled to Laurel for the MHSA Class A-C State Track & Field meet last weekend. For the women, freshman Nasya O'Connor finished 24th in the 100m hurdle prelims and sophomore Danica Shepherd finished 22nd in the discus. Four of the men, J.W. Five-for-six. The CCHS Lady Bulldogs have now made it to the Montana Class C State Girls' Basketball Tournament five times in the last six years. At its regularly conducted meeting earlier this month, the Montana High School Association announced several notable reclassifications. The Westby/Grenora football program will move from 8-Man to 6-Man next year. The Wibaux football program will move from 6-Man to 8-Man, and the Joliet football program will move from 8-Man to Class B. Denbury Resources, Inc. of Baker recently made a generous donation of $5,000 to Ekalaka Public Schools for new shot clocks inside the CCHS gymnasium. This year the Carter County High School Bulldogs will play football against the Wildcats of Plentywood. Three CCHS athletes competed at the MHSA Class C State Track and Field Meet in Missoula over the weekend. Freshman Ethan Frye competed on the men's side. Fellow freshman Brynn Loehding competed on the women's side, as did sophomore Katie Tooke. Frye ran a 19.47 in the 110 meter hurdle prelims, missing out on the finals. One sophomore and two freshman will represent CCHS at the MHSA Class AA-C State Track & Field Meet in Missoula this weekend. The Montana High School Association board voted on Tuesday to delay the start of winter sports in hopes of flattening the curve during the continued COVID-19 pandemic. The MHSA executive board approved the motion of winter sports practices in basketball, swimming and wrestling to begin on December 7, with competitions delayed until the first week of January, 2021. The Carter County High Lady Bulldogs left no doubt when they defeated Wibaux in the Southern C Divisional championship game on Saturday night in Laurel. The game was a rematch of this year's District 4C title game, when the Bulldogs beat the Longhorns 61-55.
