  • Dahl Memorial Healthcare Association Annual Meeting nears

    Dahl Memorial Healthcare Association’s annual meeting will be on September 22 at 6 p.m. in the physical therapy room, second floor of the new facility. On the docket for this year will be a new set of bylaws to be voted on, two board positions to be filled and a strong operational report of the progress DMHA has been making.   • Days of '85 Bump-N-Run

    An Ekalaka Bump-N-Run is scheduled for Saturday, August 13 at the Ekalaka Airport. This year’s Days of ‘85 races will offer a full concession stand and beer garden. Admittance prices are $10 for adults, $5 for students, and free for youngsters under the age of 5. Races will start at 11 a.m. No coolers are allowed.   • 43rd Annual Juried Exhibit Traveling Collection in Ekalaka

    The 43rd Annual Juried Exhibit Traveling Collection will be at Ekalaka Public Library over the Carter County Days of ‘85 Fair and Rodeo. The traveling exhibition this year features a wide variety of mediums photography, digital painting, oil, acrylic, watercolor, soft pastel, porcelain and mixed media.   • Youth market sale during Days of '85

    The public is invited to attend the Carter County 4-H and FFA livestock market sale on Saturday, August 13, beginning at 3:30 p.m. The annual sale will take place at the fairgrounds show arena in Ekalaka. As always, buyers will have a choice in which processor to take their animal(s) to. The families of the youth selling their market animals will do their best to deliver the animals to the processor.     The Carter County Fair board and Alkali, Inc. are excited to see what the community comes up with for the fair’s pet parade this year. The theme is “How the West was won in Carter County.” Dress your pet and yourselves depicting your idea of how Carter County donated to settling the west.     Ekalaka Track and Arena will host its annual youth rodeo this Saturday, July 16 in Ekalaka. The action begins at 10 a.m. for boys and girls up to age 18.     On July 19, USDA Rural Development will be partnering with Eastern Plains Economic Development Corporation to present a variety of small business funding opportunities at a free workshop in Ekalaka.   • Summer reading program begins July 26

    Ekalaka Public Library is once again offering a summer reading program. All children ages three and up are invited to attend. Two different age groups will meet each day beginning Tuesday, July 26th, and ending Friday, July 29th. Potty trained children ages three to six will meet from 11 a.m. to noon and children 7 and up will meet from 1 to 2 p.m. The program will conclude with a pizza party at the end of the final day. Sports physicals for those entering fifth through twelfth grades in Carter County will be held July 11th through July 15th, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. A $25 fee is due at time of service and can be payed with cash, a check or a credit card.
