Town council election update

As of June 6, 2017, those who have filed for positions of the town are Pat Strickland for mayor, Jim MacKay for a council position, and Andy Wright for a two-year council position. Additional filings need to be made to fill all of the positions.

Those interested in filing will need to do so before 5:00 pm on Monday, June 19, 2017. Paperwork for filing is available at the Town Office or at the Carter County Clerk & Recorders Office and has to be filed at the Carter County Clerk & Recorders Office.

If a primary election is needed, it will be held on September 12; otherwise the general election date will be November 7, 2017.

To be a council member, residents must have resided in the Town of Ekalaka for at least 60 days preceding the election to office. To be mayor, residents must be at least 21 years old, be a resident of the State for at least 3 years, and be a resident of the Town of Ekalaka for at least two years preceding the election to office.
