Wow! Did you see those pet paraders? Thirteen entries in two categories showed off their talent and colors at the 23rd Annual 2017 Pet Parade on Friday, August 11th. The three judges "earned their keep" with decisions...decisions.

A three way tie (!) occurred for the judges' favorite overall choice! Lilly Schallenberger, Tate Wolff, and Colyn & Clancy Higgins all took home the honor. The rest of the results are as follows:

"Feast or Famine" category:

1st) Colyn and Clancy Higgins with "Teeny" the lamb in a miniature RodeoRigs trailer. The boys' costumes included Grandpa Doran's hat and suspenders!

2nd) Kadlin and Casen Humbracht with "Jake" the blue heeler, aboard a clever homemade "vehicle" with theme of "Ekalaka or bust."

3rd) Tate Wolff dressed as "Davy Crockett" complete with coonskin cap and "Ruby," the canine (dig that red hair!).

"Wacky, Tacky, Crazy-Odds n' Ends" category:

Kadlin Humbracht rocks out during the pet parade.

1st) Lilly Schallenberger and "Hashbrown" the bum lamb. Theme: "beach babes" (note: Lilly had never seen a beach so she created one for herself!).

2nd) [tie] Cai Jesperson with "Skeeter" the horse, and decorated as "Cowgirl Jasmine".

2nd) [tie] Quinton, Tig and Tye Kalstrom with "Max" the puppy, portraying "Ninja Turtles".

3rd) Cambri Jesperson with "Beans" the horse, as "Cowgirl Fairy".

Thanks to all the creative entries, and to the judges, helpers, and spectators cheering them on! Thanks to the judges wringing their hands, and the volunteer last-minute judge, Dan Schrock, for being the first and only hand raised when Delbert was not able to come; without Dan's hand, there may have been a lot more ties than there were already! And did anyone see that fabulous, colorfully-costumed, great announcer, Susan Tooke? Double wow!
