Funeral services for Carl “Henry” Logar, 83, were held Dec. 20, 2017 at the Trinity Baptist Church in Douglas, Wyo. with Pastor Fred Dyer officiating. Interment followed at the Douglas Park Cemetery.

Henry Logar passed away on Dec. 15, 2017, at Irwin Towers in Douglas, Wyo.

Henry was born on Nov. 11, 1934 at Knobs, Mont. to Carl and Frances (Gruden) Logar. Henry attended grade school at Hilmont School at Knobs. He started high school in 1948 but quit in March to go home and help his dad. On Nov. 21, 1950 his dad passed away. Henry took over the farm and ranch with his mother and sister. Frances moved to Baker, Mont. in 1968 and retired. On Nov. 17, 1967, Henry married Deanna Kay Jensen in Baker and to this union two children were born, a daughter Theresa Lynn on Nov. 29, 1968 in Baker and a son Gregory James on Sept. 5, 1971 in Miles City, Mont. Henry and Dee took in and cared for six other children for several years. Henry was a 4-H member for many years and then became a leader and a sheep leader at large. He was also an announcer at the livestock barn for the 4-H open classes. Henry served the following positions for 12 years each: Rural School Board, Baker High School Boards, ASC Committee, and the Baker Livestock Board. Henry was appointed to the Rural Fire Department by the County Commissioners serving for 12 years and fighting fires for 25 years. In March, 1997 they sold the ranch near Baker and purchased a small ranch near Saint Onge, S.D. Henry worked for Saint Onge Livestock for about six months then working for Lemar Angus Ranch for three years.

In 2001 Henry and Dee were divorced with Henry continuing to live on the place for about two more years. Henry then moved into Heritage Acres Apartments in Sturgis, S.D. In 2003 he worked for the City of Sturgis in the Parks Department for three years.

On Sept. 1, 2006, Henry moved to Payne Plaza Apartments in Douglas, Wyo. to be near his son and family. After having back surgery, he worked for Eastern Wyoming College in Douglas for five months then started working at the State Fairgrounds in Douglas from 2007 until January, 2010.

Henry met Pauline Joyce (Hess) Ellis, a widow, after moving to Douglas and they were married Aug. 1, 2008 at the ranch of Tom Strock. Tom was also the Minister who married the couple. They lived at Pauline’s place in Douglas after they married, where Henry continued to work at the State Fairgrounds until 2010.

Henry’s hobbies were doing woodwork, iron work, fishing, visiting at coffee shops, and playing bingo at the Senior Center. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl on Nov. 21, 1950 and Frances on Oct. 19, 1979 and his wife, Pauline, on March 21, 2016.

He is survived by his daughter Teresa Holsinger and her children Candice, Thane, and Joe of Billings, Mont .; his son, Greg (Traci) Logar and their children Devon, Jake, and Kyle of Douglas; and his sister, Rose Straub and her daughter Alice Parker of Baker.

A memorial to the Douglas Senior Citizens’ Center, P.O. Box 192, Douglas, Wyo. 82633 would be appreciated by the family.

Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Logar, Jake Logar, Kyle Logar, Thane Spencer, Joe Spencer, Justin Klauzer, and Kylan Klauzer.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be all of his many friends.
