Filing for primary election closed

March 16, 2018

The filing deadline for party candidates to run for offices on the 2018 Primary Ballot has closed, effective March 12, 2018. Local candidates who have thrown their names in the hat for county positions include: Commissioner District #3 – Mike Watkins and William Walker, both of whom filed as Republican candidates; Justice of the Peace – Incumbent Kathleen Rosencranz, nonpartisan; Treasurer/Assessor – Incumbent Jesi Strub, Republican; Clerk and Recorder/Public Administrator/Surveyor – Incumbent Pamela J. Castleberry. The top vote getters from each party will move on to the November ballot.

There will not be an election for the Conservation District due to the fact that the number of candidates equaled the number of positions offered for the election. Therefore, Doug Bonsell, Randy Borchgrevink, and Duane Talcott will fill the positions by acclamation. In addition, the precinct committeewomen and committeemen positions for each party will not be offered on the ballot. Mary and Doug Stange filed for those positions on the Democratic Ballot for precinct #14. No other individuals came forward for filing. Each party may appoint individuals to fill the remaining positions.
