Additional NWS training scheduled in Broadus

The National Weather Service (NWS) will be conducting another SKYWARN Spotter training session. This session will be held in Broadus on Friday, May 11.

The free training will take place from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Broadus Library. Anyone interested in severe weather training or becoming a trained severe storm spotter is invited to attend. Volunteers currently registered for the program are also encouraged to attend as a refresher and to stay updated on the latest reporting procedures.

Topics that will be covered include: why spotters are needed; severe thunderstorms producing tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail; weather safety; and how to report severe weather to the NWS.

More information can be found on the web at weather.gov/billings.
