Snowfall falls short of record

 


This winter, the Ekalaka area received 80.2 inches of snow. That’s the second highest total since the winter of 1999-2000. The highest total since that winter, and on record, came in 2009 when Ekalaka got 95.4”. However, some records prior to 1999 are missing pieces of data.

The least amount of snow in that same time frame came just a few seasons ago, 2015-2016, when Ekalaka received only 22.5” of snow.

National Weather Service records show that Albion received 47.7 inches of snow this February. Data at Albion for other winter months during the 2017-2018 season is also missing. Ekalaka, with 8...
