Conversations with God

Set a day aside

November 29, 2019

Hello God, it’s me, Mara:

You know, Lord, it’s that time of year again; it is ‘time’ for us to be thankful. We are so busy doing ‘whatever’, that we just take so many things for granted, so a day has been set aside so that all of us can be thankful! We perhaps should take a moment to list a few of the things that You do for us and give to us; listing just a few, we think about such things as our life, health, food, shelter, jobs, family, friends; generally, these things are just taken for granted, they aren’t even given a second thought.

Oh, Lord, it is grand to have this special day. We thank You Lord, for the freedoms that we take for granted – to list a few: we are thankful that we are still able to worship You when, where, and how we please.

We thank You for this day, Lord, for guests soon to be arriving to help us enjoy the big bird that is already roasting in the oven, for an assortment of veggies, several salads, a special, yummy cornbread and for the pumpkin pies waiting for us on the pantry shelf.

We thank You for sunshine today, but also for our warm and woolly clothes hanging in the closet, ready for us to wear as we know the days will be growing colder. A special thanks You that we got to watch the skeins of geese as they were flying overhead; they were headed south to a warmer climate just like some of our friends are planning to do. We thank You for all these things and many, many MORE, we thank You, Lord.

In 1 Corinthians 16:3, we read: “Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good: His love and His kindness go on forever.” Thank You, Lord.

Love, Mara
