Girls pick up pair of conference wins

The Lady Bulldogs easily took down the Cougars last Friday night in Plevna, 64-11. CCHS shot 53 percent on free throws, 47 percent on two-pointers and 20 percent on three-pointers. They out-rebounded Plevna, 30-16, and had 9 fewer turnovers. Tyra O’Connor shot 50 percent from the field and finished the game tied with Ella Owen for the lead in points with 10. Heidi LaBree led the team in rebounds with 8 and Hannah LaBree led in assists with 7.

The girls’ varsity squad charged to another large victory on Saturday in Jordan. The Dogs went up by 19 in the first quarter and finished the game with a 43 point margin of victory, 65-28. CCHS had 12 steals while only committing 13 turnovers; Jordan committed 22. Blue went 13 of 23 (57 percent) on free throws, 18 of 43 (42 percent) from inside the arc and 6 of 16 (38 percent) from behind the arc. Seven Bulldogs scored in the contest and 3 finished the game in double figures. Heather LaBree led CCHS in rebounds with 10, 4 of which were on the offensive end. She also tied with sister Hannah LaBree for the team lead in assists (5). Ella Owen led in points with 16.

This Friday, CCHS travels to Northern Cheyenne. Saturday they will play an important conference game at home versus Wibaux. Saturday’s home games are set to begin at 1 p.m.
