Conversations with God

Sweet summertime

August 14, 2020

Hello God, it’s me, Mara:

You know, Lord, it never seems to fail, once it is Summertime, detours seem to be opened and “Road Construction Ahead” signs are woven into the scenery along busy roadways. With friends, this last week, we sure did come across some of those very signs in our travels, beginning with “Rough Road” and “Watch For Flagman”. These signs gave us fair warning as we traveled along. “Caution – Abrupt Edge” signs also warned of impending danger. We joined the lineup of vehicles sitting and waiting for the “Pilot Car - Follow Me”.

We know from experience that living the resolutions we have made; it does not take very long to break any of them. Life is difficult to live, Lord, but You never planned that we should live it alone. You have made provisions for us to experience a miracle that will totally change our direction in life.

If we allow the indwelling of Your Spirit, we then desire to follow the path of righteousness. The Holy Spirit warns us of danger, the Spirit guides us, gives us strength to overcome and helps us to live a Christian life. Then “Danger Ahead” and other warning signs aren’t the depressing signs they appear to be, but a sign of something good, joyful and beneficial; if we will obey. For serving You, Lord, then is no longer a matter of struggling in our own strength but it is a matter of living by the Spirit’s strength.

We read in Ezekiel 36:27: “I will put My Spirit within you so that you will obey/follow My laws and do whatever I command.” Lord, we do pray that we will always have a heart that is open to the Spirit’s continuous transforming work in us; that we would heed Your Word as “Pilot car – Follow Me,” this lovely Sweet Summertime.

Love, Mara
