Machelle "Shelly" Lucille Grimes found God's heavenly light on October 28, 2020 at Billings Clinic in Billings, Montana. She was surrounded by family and passed peacefully.

Born February 23, 1964 to John and Marion Kerr in Ekalaka, Machelle loved animals big and small and making the world a little prettier by coloring, crocheting, weaving and painting creations for herself and others. She grew up in the Sheep Mountain area and enjoyed being out on the family ranch with her younger brother Justin.

Machelle married Gary Grimes in 1983 and from this marriage Richard John (1983) and Eva Marie (1987) were born. She loved spending time with her children and doing what they loved-she was always up for playing video games, fishing, swimming or going on walks with the dogs in tow.

Machelle finished nursing school at Western Dakota Technical Institute and became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1992. She came home to Ekalaka the same year and began work at Dahl Memorial Healthcare. She enjoyed every minute of taking care of people from the community, her elderly residents, and showing new nurses the ropes. In 2016, she opened Stompin' Grounds coffee shop with her daughter, Eva. There, she brightened everyone's day with her sparkly personality, caring nature and whit.

Machelle was a fierce protector and very proud of her children. She was a mother to many in the community and affectionately known as Gramma Shelly at the coffee shop. She loved unicorns, believed in fairies, and playing with her two nieces, Shaun-tey and Kyra. She loved and was loved by many. She will be sorely missed and fondly remembered, with every cup of coffee and rainbow.

She is survived by her mother, Marion Kerr; children, Eva Grimes and Richard Grimes; nieces, Shaun-tey and Kyra; brother Justin and many cousins, extended family and friends as well as her beloved pets, Lily, Sasha, Kringle and her Granddogs, Max, Charlie and Roxy.

She was preceded in death by her father John Kerr and maternal and fraternal grandparents.
