Shelley Ann Hackley was born in Arvada, CO to Hank and Clarine (Stewart) Hackley on February 3, 1961. After Shelley's father, Hank, passed away in a car accident in Colorado, Clarine and Shelley moved to Towner, ND where Clarine met and married Winston Pottenger. Shelley graduated from Towner High School and attended Williston State College in Williston, ND. There she met and married Raphael Finneman and had twin daughters, Sarah and Stacey. After living in Golva, ND for a few years, Shelley and the girls moved to Dickinson, ND where Shelley attended Dickinson State University and graduated with honors with a Business Administration Degree. After graduation Shelley started her career with Cenex.

Shelley moved to Buffalo, SD where she managed the Buffalo Cenex. While living in Buffalo, she met and married Chad Hoherz in 1993 and began her lifelong dream of being a rancher's wife while continuing to work and raise her two daughters. Shelley loved the ranch. It was her happy place. She loved the cattle, the horses, the seclusion, and her yard and garden. While on the ranch, Shelley enjoyed cooking for the large work crews that would come and help with the spring and fall work.

Shelley loved her two girls more than anything and rarely missed an opportunity to attend school functions. After many years on the ranch, Chad and Shelley decided to downsize and moved to Bentley, ND where they bought a ranchette, and also built a beautiful lake house in Pick City on Lake Sakakawea. She loved to entertain at the lake house and welcomed many friends and family into her home. Shelley enjoyed going down to the beach with her grandchildren and searching for shells and treasures and listening to them laugh and play in the water. Shelley was very devoted to her family and had many lifelong friends. She will be missed greatly.

Shelley is survived by her husband Chad, Bentley, ND; twin daughters Sarah (Shawn) Strangford, Ekalaka, MT; and Stacey Finneman, Bentley, ND; grandchildren Jaelee, Ella, Nora, and William Strangford, and Jaynie and Joey Douglas; mother Clarine Pottenger, Towner, ND; brothers Keith Pottenger, Towner, ND, Craig (Jeralynn) Pottenger, Bottineau, ND; brothers and sisters-in-law Wade (Wanda) Hoherz, Bentley, ND; Kevin (Mary) Hoherz, Dickinson, ND, David (Tammy) Hoherz, Oregon; numerous nieces and nephews, including special nephew Casey Hoherz, Bentley, ND; special niece LeeAnn Hoherz, New Leipzig, ND; and a lifelong friend, Santha.
