Third-driest June on record in Ekalaka

 


Ekalaka received 0.55 inches of precipitation in June, the third least on record, according to National Weather Service data.

The only Junes the area has received less came in 1933 (0.53 inches) and 1949 (0.49 inches). Ekalaka had 1.14 inches in June of ‘88. The all-time average precipitation for the month of June in Ekalaka is 3.12 inches.

The average high temperature this June was also the second hottest recorded at 89.9 degrees. The only year hotter was in 1988 when the average daily high was 91.8 degrees.

Scattered thunderstorms around the county provided some isolated areas of moisture over the July 4th holiday weekend, while others received little or no rain. As of Wednesday morning, Ekalaka was 5.88 inches of precipitation below normal for the year.
