Jam champs

A team of seventh and eighth grade boys from Ekalaka held off Baker in the championship game to win the Baker Jam title in the eighth grade division on Sunday evening at Baker High School.

Twelve teams from the region competed in the division. They included teams from Baker, Beach, Sidney, Miles City, Circle, Watford City, Fairview, Bowman, Ekalaka and the surrounding areas.

Teams were split into three separate pools, with a team from Baker, a team named the Badlands Bucks, and the Ekalaka squad all going undefeated (3-0) in their respective pools during pool play.

Bowman first defeated Sidney in a game for a chance to play against Ekalaka. In that matchup, the Dawgs handled Bowman easily, earning their spot in the championship game.

Baker narrowly escaped the Badlands Bucks on their side of the bracket to get a shot at Ekalaka in the chipper for a second straight year, and for a second straight year, Ekalaka came out on top.
