Conversations with God

Power

Hello God, it’s me, Mara:

You know Lord, sometimes a fascinating and thought-provoking blurb is found, recently just discovered one exciting enough to share. This one explains in a simple way, how when we commit our ways to You, Lord, that You make Your Power come to pass. It uses Bible verse Romans 9:17. “…I [have] raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee…” and goes on to explain an easy way to grasp this Power. Date is unknown but, long ago, Billy Graham wrote about how Walter Knight told a story about a little boy: Quoting: “This little boy, Jim, who had recently received Christ, asked. “Daddy, how can I believe in the Holy Spirit when I have never seen Him?”

“I’ll show you how,” said his father, who was an electrician. Later, Jim went with his father to the power plant where he was shown the generators. This is where the power comes from to heat our stove and to give us light. We cannot see the power, but it is in the machine and in the power lines,” said the father. “I believe in electricity,” said Jim. “Of course, you do,” said his father, “but you don’t believe in it because you see it. You believe in it because you see what it can do. Likewise, you can believe in the Holy Spirit because you can see what He does in people’s lives when they are surrendered to Christ and possess His power.”

Thank You, Lord, for such a good illustration, which helps us to understand, and we pray that You would make our heart completely devoid of self so that it can be filled with Your Spirit, Lord. Your Word also encourages us to know that when we commit our ways to You, Lord, You shall bring it to pass. Thank You!

Love, Mara
