Alzada Community Hall meeting

Alzada Community Hall, built in 1929

On Monday, July 25th at 5 p.m. there will be a public meeting at the Alzada Community Hall. The meeting will be followed by a potluck. The Alzada Community Club will be providing the main course of pulled pork sandwiches as well as chips and drinks. Everyone in the community is welcome and encouraged to attend both the meeting and the potluck.

It has been several years since the club held a meeting. With several items needing to be discussed and voted on, the board members felt a public meeting was warranted. Current board members are Chuck Waterland, Chris Maupin and Miranda Hendrickson. Hendrickson replaced her grandmother, Karen Gay Arpan, as secretary/treasurer at the beginning of the year.

The board is looking for someone in the area to replace Chris Maupin as a board member. Maupin, along with Arpan, organized and spearheaded the annual Cowboy Poetry and Art Show for almost thirty years. Maupin has not lived in the area for some time however.

Also on the agenda will be a current financial report, a review of the hall rental fee, a building and grounds repair and maintenance list and suggestions for future fundraising endeavors. In the past the funds generated from the Cowboy Poetry Show were used to pay the bills and make any repairs.

New community events held at the hall are wanted to fund these necessities. Any and all suggestions are welcome. While the building might be old and in need of work it is still needed as a community gathering spot and large rental event space.

Whether you want to get involved, visit with someone you haven't seen in a while, or just come for the food please join on the evening of July 25.
