Hello Fellow Carter County Residents;

October 14, 2022

I would like to introduce myself, as I am running for the Carter County Justice of the Peace position, and a well-informed vote is imperative.

My name is Kamely Harkins, I am the great granddaughter of Odis and Helen (Parks) Harkins.

I moved to Ekalaka in 2003 and have made Carter County my home. I am a proud graduate of Carter County High School, Class of 2006.

I have since held numerous jobs: a dietary aide and CNA for Dahl Memorial, a custodian and kitchen aide for Carter County High School a bartender for a short while as well as babysitter for a few families at the local daycare until I was hired as clerk of justice court. I’ve learned a lot in my three years in the clerk position, being primarily responsible for all data entry, accounting, and document preparation. I am familiar with the process and roles from an individual being charged to the final judgment, ensuring those dispositions records at the state level. The Montana Supreme Court has approved me as substitute Judge.

In the late 80’s, legislation was put into place requiring all justice of the peace and city judges to certify after each election. In addition, there are mandatory trainings twice a year. I look forward to the opportunity to become certified should I be successful in the upcoming election.

I feel I can be a great addition to Carter County as your employee and will do my best to serve the public in every way I can. I also would like to add that if I am elected, I would be very conservative with your tax dollars, knowing it is hard earned and you deserve it be efficiently spent. I see several ways for reduction in the justice of the peace budget.

Being 35 years old allows for extended longevity to the position as well as a broad knowledge of the ever-changing world of technology.

I would like to close by urging you to get out and vote November 8th and would appreciate your consideration when you cast your ballot.

VOTE KAMELY HARKINS JUSTICE OF THE PEACE

Respectfully,

Kamely Harkins
