'Dogs finish regular season

At Terry last Friday, the CCHS Bulldogs battled, drawing to within six points late in the contest, but eventually lost to the Terriers by 10, 50-60. The 'Dogs outscored the Terriers in the final frame by 10 points. Three Bulldogs finished the game with double-digit points, led by Wyatt Melton with 13. Terry's Giacomo De Pietro led all scorers with 25. CCHS shot 3 of 8 from the free throw line; Terry went 12 of 13.

Saturday night, February 11th was senior night at CCHS. The boys took on the Broadus Hawks, who sit atop the conference. CCHS was outscored 7-21 in the first frame and went on to lose by 33. The 'Dogs shot 5-10 from the charity stripe while Broadus shot only three free throws and missed them all. Hawk Dillon Gee led all scorers with 20 points, all of which came in the first half. Wyatt Melton again led the 'Dogs with 14. Two CCHS seniors played their final game in Ekalaka, J.W. Elmore and Avory Matthews.

This weekend the District 4C tournament will take place at Custer County District High School in Miles City. CCHS will first play on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. versus Terry. If the 'Dogs win they will play again on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. If they lose, they will play a loser-out contest on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m.


The JV boys had a better outing in Terry on February 10th, coming back from a six-point deficit in the final frame to win by 3. CCHS JV outscored Terry JV 17-8 in the fourth, even though they went only 2 of 10 from the free throw line in the quarter. Clay Rost led Ekalaka in scoring with 8 points.

In their final game of the season the CCHS JV squad fell to the Broadus JV squad, 38-54. The 'Dogs only shot four free throws; they made two of them. Broadus got to the line 20 times, but only hit on 4 of those attempts. Thomas Oylear of Broadus was the games top-scorer with 14 points. Preston Jensen had 13 for CCHS.
