Carter County lifts Stage 1

Carter County Fire Warden, Neil Kittelmann and Carter county commissioners have lifted Stage 1 Fire Restrictions as of midnight on Thursday, December 12, 2024. U.S. Forest Service remains in Stage 2 in the Custer National Forest until at least December 25, 2024.

Fire Warden, Neil Kittelmann has stated that burn permits will be strictly enforced. If you plan to burn you must call the Sheriff's Office, 406-775-8743, before burning.
