Award winning naturalist visits Ekalaka Public Schools

October 27, 2017

On Tuesday, Scott Shupe of Farmington, Kentucky was at Carter County High School for around forty minutes delivering excitement, entertainment, and education for local students.

Shupe is an award winning naturalist who began his professional career in 1971. Early on he worked at multiple locations in Florida and at Reptile Gardens in Rapid City, SD. Since 1978 he has provided wildlife and conservation education programming throughout the country.

Ekalaka Public Schools Superintendent Daniel Schrock recently learned that Shupe was coming to the area and couldn't pass up on the opportunity to bring him to Ekalaka.

The "reptile guy" brought with him a corn snake, python, kingsnake, tortoise, legless lizard, Tegu Lizard, and boa constrictor. He spoke to student about each animal in addition to other reptiles from around the world and concluded the presentation by answering questions from the students.
