Fourteen Carter County 4-H and FFA youth members weighed in market steers on December 27th at the Ekalaka scale. All of the youth members choose their market steers from ranches located in Carter County and their weights ranged from 750-1090 pounds.

Beef weigh-ins are the first stop on the journey to the Carter County Fair. Youth use numbers from this event to calculate the final weights that their market steers will need to be in order to provide buyers with a quality finished product.

Members receive education on how to feed and keep their market animals healthy by attending annual Livestock Quality Workshops that MSU Extension in Fallon/Carter Counties offers.

For more information on the market beef project or 4-H, contact the office at 406-778-7110.
