    Plans for the Days of '85 are continuing as the event draws nearer. The annual county fair and rodeo is slated for Thursday, August 8th through Sunday, August 11th this year. On Thursday, sheep dog trials will be taking place at Ekalaka Track and Arena, a silent auction will begin at Ekalaka Public Library, and animal shows will be taking place at the fairgrounds throughout the day.   • First Baptist Church plans 75th anniversary

    The FBC, Ekalaka, is planning to celebrate their 75th anniversary on September 14th and 15th, 2024. The church was founded around Christmas, 1949. A kickoff brunch will take place on Sat., September 14th from 10 a.m. until noon. Sourdough pancakes with all accouterments will be served. There will be visiting, a slide show, singing and personal testimonies.   • Volleyball camp in Ekalaka June 24 & 25

    Summit Volleyball Camp will be held at Carter County High School, Monday June 24 and Tuesday, June 25. This camp is open to all students who will be in third through eighth grade this fall.   • Ernest Tooke Memorial Match Bronc Ride set for Sunday

    This Sunday, June 23rd, the Ernest Tooke Memorial Match Bronc Ride and Futurity is taking place. The futurity will kick off the day’s events, beginning at noon.   • Golf and trap shoot in Baker to benefit local

    The 7th Annual Shots and Strokes, a memorial competition for late Baker resident Pat Harrison that pairs a golfer with a trap shooter, is set to take place this Friday and Saturday, June 21st and 22nd in Baker. The Sons of the American Legion in Baker help host the event each year. This year, the group made the decision to donate the proceeds to Mark Wright of Ekalaka, and Dale and Sharon Buerkle of Plevna, to help relieve costs for battling cancer.     Take pride in the community and help clean it up. The town has organized a cleanup day for this Saturday, June 1st. Gather trash, tame the brush and make paths more walkable. Bring a team!     Dahl Memorial Healthcare Association's Annual Health Fair Blood Draw is scheduled for June 4th and June 5th from 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. this year.     Local veteran Rich Burch lost his home located on Senator St. in Ekalaka to fire on February 21st. The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.
