A wet June

Ekalaka resident Libby Barth snapped this picture from her backyard at 8:38 p.m. on Tuesday evening following a thunderstorm that passed through the area.
As of 5 p.m. Tuesday evening, Ekalaka had recorded 6.34 inches of precipitation throughout the month of June, according to the National Weather Service. Heavy rains on Monday and Tuesday even led to some areas of localized flooding. Between 5 p.m. Monday evening and 5 p.m. on Tuesday, 2.39 inches fell. In fact, that 24 hour total was only 0.18 inches less than the area received in all of June, 2022. Totals for the month so far make this June at least the wettest June on record in Ekalaka since 1976.
