The Lady Bulldogs struggled early last Friday at home versus the Lady Longhorns from Wibaux, but came out strong in the third quarter and eventually went on to win, 52-34. 1-28-23 January is quickly coming to a close! We capped off the week in Appropriations by passing out of committee several significant tax bills. A bill to increase the tax exemption on business equipment from $300,000 to $1,000,000 was passed on a party line vote with all Republicans favoring the increase. This will of course also impact local governments that will have to be backfilled by the primary source of revenue collected by the State, income taxes. This should help...
I will have been retired for one month this week, and somehow retirement is not working out like I thought it would. Perhaps the reason is that I retired from the only job where I actually received a salary. My bosses at my other jobs have not acknowledged my announcements regarding retirement. In the last 11 years, the city of Havre has had 255 water main breaks. The city's public works director, Dave Pederson, says 46 of those breaks happened in the last two years alone. Dog licenses for the 2023 calendar year are currently available at Ekalaka Town Office. Per town ordinance, all dogs within the town of Ekalaka are required to be licensed every year. Throughout the year, newly acquired dogs or new dogs in town shall be licensed withing 30 days of arrival and puppies shall be licensed within 5 months of their birth. A father-daughter dance is set to take place this Friday, February 3rd at Carter County Event Center. The dance, first put on in December of 2019 by the Puptown Pioneers Homemakers Club, has become an annual event for area families.
