Letter to the editor

Someone close to me told me recently that my last two stories in the Eagle were hurtful to the descendants of those that I wrote about. If I have hurt anyone by my stories, the last two, or the ones before that, I sincerely apologize. I especially apologize to the brothers and sisters of Tootie Boggs. I truly thought a lot of Tootie and honestly didn’t think that I said anything bad about her or anybody else. The potentially bad things that I said about her happened in the second grade.

I really like to write stories for the Eagle and would hate to stop, but I will if I am hurting anyone by my stories. I honestly have tried not to say anything bad about anyone. Sometimes the story would have been better if I had not followed that policy. The things that I said which were objected too, were, to me, just human conditions which we all share to some degree. I have asked two people who I respect very much, one woman and one man, and have got mixed answers and a suggestion which I am probably not going to follow. If the editor, Eric, has any suggestions, I would like to hear them. Please don’t feel that you have to write me and reassure me, although I would like to hear from any of you at any time.

Again, please forgive me for anything hurtful.

Sincerely Yours,

Bill Lavell
