Back Road Salon & Boutique and Hair By Becky now open on Main Street

April 13, 2018

Becky Erickson, left, and Grace Jardee, right, recently teamed up to open a new shop in Ekalaka.

People wandering Main Street in Ekalaka may have recently noticed that a new storefront has opened. Back Road Salon & Boutique and Hair By Becky is located between Outlaw Leathers and Ekalaka Public Library.

"I have been doing Grace's hair for about 10 years," Becky Erickson, who operates Hair By Becky, stated. "It sort of just worked out for us to pair up."

Erickson, a 2004 CCHS alumna and Ekalaka native, graduated from Black Hills Beauty College in 2005. She spent the last seven years working in Baker before deciding to make the move back to Ekalaka.

Grace Jardee, who Erickson was referring to, graduated from Bold Beauty Academy at Billings, MT in 2015. Jardee explained that between the two of them, they can accommodate almost anyone.

"I have always loved the way Becky has done my hair. We wanted to open a new business in Ekalaka to provide more services to the community. I do manicures, pedicures, acrylic nail enhancements, and consulting. I can also do makeup applications for proms, weddings, or any other special occasions."

In addition to all things beauty, Back Road Salon & Boutique also has women's clothing and accessories, which can be found on facebook at

Erickson and Jardee both work at the shop by appointment, and explained that their schedules are flexible.

"If need be, I can do weekends and evenings, too," Jardee continued.

In the spirit of new business, the editor of the Ekalaka Eagle was treated to a complimentary eyebrow waxing from Erickson on Tuesday afternoon. Later, he mentioned that although his eyebrows were the nicest they have ever looked, it will likely be the first and last time it happens.

"It has been really good so far," Erickson said about the duos new joint venture. "We want to have a grand opening or open house here soon. Stay tuned for details."
