Roberta was born May 1, 1937 in Douglas, WY, the daughter of Robert Jacob and Arbeulah (Brow) Price. The family was in the grocery business and as a young girl, Bertie moved to Ekalaka with her parents. She attended schools in Ekalaka, graduating from Carter County High School with the class of 1955. On October 17, 1955, Bertie and Dewey Elmore were united in marriage and together they adopted two sons: John and Carter. Along with raising her two sons, she worked at the Super Valu and later for her niece and nephew at the Main Street Market. Bertie spent 60 plus years in the grocery industry where she always greeted customers with a smile and made a lasting impact on the community. In 1975, Bertie and Dewey purchased the Elmore family homestead and lived in the Chalk Buttes south of Ekalaka. In 1998, the couple moved back into Ekalaka where she made her home ever since.

Bertie had an unwavering faith in God. She was a lifetime member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and enjoyed spending countless hours working and being a member of the Altar Society and Parish Council. She believed in keeping active in her community and was a member of the Ekalaka School Board and Ekalaka Library Board. She loved spending time reading. Bertie found great joy in time spent with her family and friends. She will be missed by all that knew her.

Bertie is survived by her sons, John C. (Lisa) Elmore of Southern Pines, NC, and Carter J. (Beverly) Elmore of Colorado Springs, CO; four grandchildren, Alex, Logan, Morgan, and Sarah; sisters, Patti (Floyd) Halvorsen of Eugene, OR, Susan (Ray) Crabtree of Willows, CA, and Anne Carroll of Willows, CA.
