Follow meat from the pasture to your plate by learning how to make your own sausage.

Making sausage on your own can be a fun way to explore new seasonings and flavors in the convenience of your home and is a great activity to do with your family. By making it yourself, you also know exactly what is in it.

Historically, sausage is one of the oldest known forms of processed meat and has been a very desirable, "quick-and-easy" meal for generations.

Fallon/Carter County Extension will be hosting sausage making workshops this fall. During these workshops participants will be learning the basic step for easy and safe sausage making. Participants will work in groups and make their own fresh sausage. Workshop space is limited and pre-registration is required. As classes fill, more classes will be scheduled. If these dates do not work with your schedule, call the extension office to be placed on a list for an upcoming class. Call (406) 778-7110 to sign-up.

Scheduled classes so far are on Tuesday, October 2 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Carter County Events Center, and on Thursday October 4 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. inside the Fallon County Library basement. Classes cost $15 per person.

The equipment for these workshops is funded by a Montana SARE Program Grant and workshops will be offered through southeast Montana. To schedule a workshop for your group or organization please contact the extension office at (406) 778-7110.
