Pick a peck of pumpkins, cook a crock of chili

Carter County Chamber of Commerce's FestiFall seemingly went off without a hitch on Saturday. Somewhere around 70 pumpkins were picked from Mainstreet Market's pumpkin patch, and almost 90 people enjoyed bottomless bowls of chili. Children enjoyed face painting and games provided by the museum, as well as rides on the famous RodeoRigs.com barrel train.

After much deliberation, a distinguished panel of judges chose Chris Klarich's beer cheese chili as the first place winner of the chili cook-off. Shelly Grimes took second place with her "we're to busy working cows" chili, and Johanna Tooke came in third with a Montana wheat chili. Winners were selected based off of several criteria including taste, texture, originality, appearance and aftertaste. The top three all received gift baskets put together by Chamber Vice President Eva Grimes. Grimes stated that the event was a great success and is hopeful that it will continue for years to come.
