Makoshika State Park summer youth program returns

(Glendive, MT) –The Summer Youth Program at Makoshika State Park returns May 30 through August 1, 2019. These weekly programs are held every Thursday from 9:30-11:30am and keep children engaged and learning during the summer school break. They will provide educational learning opportunities in a variety of fun activities and settings.

The series kicks off with the program “Oh, Deer”. All animals need food, water, shelter and space, but the amounts needed to survive vary by species. In this program, students will explore these four components of an animal’s habitat using deer as an example.

Children 7-13 years old are welcome to attend these programs, which are sponsored by Montana State Parks. Children attending five or more programs will be invited to an overnight campout on August 7th and 8th, 2019.

All programs meet at the visitor center. Participants should bring a water bottle, bugspray, sunscreen and dress appropriately for the weather; no flip-flops, please. Program schedules and registration forms are available at the Makoshika State Park Visitor Center. Please contact Sue Veroye at (406) 377-6256 for more information.

Due to liability issues we must have at least one additional adult (besides our instructors) per 10 participants. Parents are strongly encouraged to sign-up with their children and share in these fun learning experiences.
