The 2019 pet parade is scheduled for noon on Friday, August 9 at the bleacher area of Carter County Fairgrounds.
Sign-up for entries will take place from 11 a.m. until noon.
The two decorating categories this year are:
1. Animals from nursery rhymes, songs, books, etc. (take your choice and go from there).
2. Chores I love (or hate) around the house or outdoors. Examples include: milking the cow, saddling the horse, slopping the hogs, scooping manure from corral or barn/outdoors, mowing the lawn, weeding the garden, dishwashing or drying, sweeping, mopping floors, dusting the furniture and making the beds (let your imagination take wings here).
So whistle or holler for your chosen pet(s) and come for decoration day. Any species will do: canine, feline, equine, bovine, caprine, porcine, avians or exotics. Anything goes!
Our treasured announcer is Susan Tooke. Judges this year are Kim Tooke, Chris Hansen, and Jerry and Michelle Keith. Ringmasters are Kenzie and Kendra Tooke. Tallymasters are JoAn Marshall and Susan Tooke.
First place in each of the two categories will receive $15, second place in each of the two categories will receive $10, third place in each of the two categories will receive $7.50 and the judges favorite overall will receive $25. All entries not placing will receive $5 for participation.
This is a fun event for participants as well as the audience so put it on your calendar. As always, we hope the weatherman is alerted early enough to make it a magnificent day for all.
