Conversations with God

Wind

August 23, 2019

Hello God, it’s me, Mara: You know, Lord, sometimes the wind moans and groans and whistles as it gently flaps the curtains at the open window which we like to have open a bit during this Summer Season. We know some older folks who in fact seem to know how to read the moods and moans and sighs of the wind – but for sure, that talent didn’t get to all of us.

Uneven heating of the atmosphere by sun energy causes wind or air, which makes for circulation – that’s what one ‘guy’ in the know mentioned. That was most interesting!

Local winds affect only small regions and depend on the time of day and the time of year. The “Chinook” (‘snow eater’) and “foehn” (dry warm wind) blows up here where we live. We also can feel the “Katabolic” (cold Autumn wind) or the “bora.” Winter may bring a “Northern” but we don’t have the summer “sirocco” (desert wind) nor do we have the “williwaws,” of Alaska or the “Monsoons”, (a Season) winds which control the Asian climate. The Rhone Valley in South France has its “mistrial;” and the Sahara has its “harmattan.”

Our summer clouds blow and scatter, some are very high; and the crows are busy cawing diligently from the shag of woods on the hill. We saw the old hawk taking leisurely yet magnificent flight, having himself some fun in the sky, while the winds dawdle with the crabapples that need to be picked and made into jam.

Wind may blow so slowly and gently that it can hardly be felt, but it is always present, just like Your Spirit, Lord. Your Word says, “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” (John 3:8).

Love, Mara
