Letter to the editor

In light of a disheartening Op Ed article that has been shared numerous times over social media, I wanted to share some positivity out into my community. My fiancé, son and I moved to Ekalaka in September 2018 and every day spent here in this community has shown more blessings than I could ever count. This has been a dream for us. We have ALL been uprooted from our normal routines in the time of this pandemic. Stores and businesses have found inventive ways to continue to work. Community members are sharing groceries and paper products to those in need. Churches are worshiping online and opening their praise to a larger congregation. I see virtual tours of museums and zoos. Our little museum even created a virtual March Madness bracket for their displays! And we stay safe.

Our Public Health is doing great being proactive instead of reactive. We are a blank spot on the COVID-19 map for a reason and that is thanks in large part to our Public Health department. This will be just a tiny blip on our timeline, and too, will pass. So let’s make the best of it and look at all of our blessings, with roofs over our heads, food on our tables, our families safe and healthy and our supportive community we can get through this!

If you look for the negative, you will always find it. If you look for your blessings you will always find them. Which do you prefer?

Thank you!
