Lorraine Mary Fix

Lorraine Mary (Artzer) Fix was born tenth of sixteen children on November 11, 1933 to Jacob and Eva Artzer in Sterling, Colorado. She was united in marriage to Robert A. Fix on September 12, 1954. They were blessed with 5 children: Mark (Debra) Fix, Cindy Kay (Tony) Brown, Lorenda (Mark) Wahl, Loralee Fix, and Kimberly (Scott) Peterson.

Lorraine shared stories about growing up in a four room house with all of her siblings contributing and sharing all of the daily duties. The sharing included 4 sisters sleeping in the same bed and the shared drinking cup by the sink that was used at mealtimes. Times were very simple and her family was very close. She often said that Mama and Papa always made sure that all of them were well taken care of.

These amazing gifts of caring for each other were carried forward in her lifelong achievement of being an amazing mother and grandmother. Many memories were created with both Lorraine and Robert while raising their children on a ranch in Ekalaka. Everyone always enjoyed the visits from relatives and friends that came to their home from near and far. Lorraine would provide amazing meals that visitors would rave about and as her children grew older they appreciated more and more. Lorraine was very resourceful and was always available for anything, whether it was sewing a new dress, driving a truck to feed the cattle, getting the kids to and from events and most definitely comforting her children with all their needs.

Robert passed away in 1992 leaving Lorraine with many years to spend with family. She cherished the sister trips she shared with Chris, Dorothy, and Julie. She also remained a significant part of all of her children's lives. Most importantly she continued her caring ways as a grandmother. She created bonds and memories that each of her grandchildren will carry forward for years to come. Her kind, gentle nature wrapped around those she met and carried forward in all of the memories she generated with them. She had many nieces and nephews that remained very dear to her.

Lorraine was a very faith-filled woman who shared her faith with her children. She provided a firm foundation that carried forward in all of their lives. On April 16, 2020 Robert greeted Lorraine as she joined him in their heavenly home. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents Jacob and Eva Artzer; brothers Jacob, Andy, John and Paul; and sisters Mary, Molly, Suzie, Dorothy and Julie.

Lorraine is survived by her children as well as her grandchildren: Jeremy Fix, Justin Fix and Dillon(Leidy) Fix; Dustan(Crystal) Smith and Cody(Genny) Smith; Nathan(Kara) Wahl, Nolan(Steph) Wahl, Mikaela(Zach)Besel and Nicolas Wahl; Desta(David Sanderson) Fix; Robert(Amanda) Peterson and Sawyer Peterson. Great Grandchildren Dusty, Cadon, Hunter, Abby, Ally, Avery, Oliver, Lillian, and Connor. Brothers Joe, Donald, Lewis, and Larry. Sisters Annie and Chris.

In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in the name of Lorraine Fix to a charity of your choice or a remembrance Mass in honor of Lorraine Fix.
