Longtime local banker retiring

Summit National Bank is inviting the public to wish Michael J. Quade congratulations on retirement.

Quade has spent more than 44 years in banking and plans to start transitioning into retirement on September 15. He will be scaling back hours at the bank significantly while remaining present to aid in training new lender Caleb Duvall. Duvall is a recent graduate of North Dakota State University and is excited about the opportunity to help people in the community.

Quade started his successful banking career at the First National Bank of Ekalaka in April, 1976. He has worked in every position at the bank and worn many hats over the years. He was president of the bank when Summit acquired the First National Bank of Ekalaka in September, 2009 and has been the Branch President/Lender in Ekalaka since.

Quade has worked tirelessly on behalf of the community, often coming into work early so he could donate his time as the clock keeper for Carter County High School Sporting events. He has always been an avid supporter of local athletics.

During Quade's tenure, he has had the opportunity to serve on the Montana State Bankers Association as a board member from 2000-2006. In addition, he was on the Montana State Bankers Association Ag Banking Committee from 1992 to 2019. Quade served three years on the American Bankers Association Ag Committee and two years on the American Bankers Association Government Relations Council, providing valuable representation from the state of Montana in Washington D.C.

Quade is looking forward to having more flexibility in his daily schedule. He plans to play more golf, attend many sporting events and see his new grandson, recently born in Missoula, as much as possible.

Please stop by the bank on Thursday, September 3 between 1 and 4 p.m. to wish Quade well. Be prepared to follow any recent CDC guidelines or mandates from Governor Bullock when entering the bank.
