Help for a friend in need

First Baptist Church in Ekalaka has established the “Dennis Bishop Medical Hardship Fund” to assist Dennis and Trish Bishop and offer them some encouragement. The desire is to offset expenses and financial losses during Dennis’ long illness. Dennis recently developed Guillain-Barré syndrome after having been sick with COVID-19. His illness has been long already, and even though he has seen some small improvements, his care givers indicate that his recovery will be slow.

Guillain-Barré syndrome is a rare but serious autoimmune disorder in which the immune system attacks healthy nerve cells in the peripheral nervous system. This leads to weakness, numbness and tingling, and can eventually cause paralysis. The cause of the condition is unknown, but it’s typically triggered by an infectious illness, such as gastroenteritis (irritation of the stomach or intestines) or a lung infection. Guillain-Barré is rare, affecting only about 1 in 100,000 Americans, according to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.

Dennis is so thankful for God’s sustaining grace, and for the faithful prayers of all of his friends and loved ones. Here now, is an opportunity to do a little bit more.

Donations can be mailed to: Bishop Medical Fund, C/O P.O. Box 54, Ekalaka, MT 59324.

Checks should be made out to First Baptist Church with “Bishop Medical Fund” on the memo line. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go towards helping the Bishops during this time of hardship.
