Dorene passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at her son's home in Fallon, MT with family by her side.
Dorene was born on September 9, 1938 in Belltower, MT, the daughter of Mike and Etta (Wickham) Gross. She grew up and attended country school in the Belltower community until eighth grade. After her schooling she remained with and worked with her family on the ranch south of Ekalaka.
Dorene married the love of her life, David Mrnak on September 5, 1956 in Miles City, MT. They moved to Leadville, CO where their three children, Rod, Sheila and Sonia were born. They lived there until 1970 when they decided to make a change and relocated their family to Verndale, MN. David and Dorene opened an outdoor theatre in Verndale and then in 1978 sold it and moved to Eagan, MN. Here they owned and operated Mrnak Electric. Dorene also worked at Honeywell for several years.
Together they retired and moved to Ekalaka in 1997. Following David's death in December, 2020, Dorene and her favorite cat, Purdy, moved to her son Rodney's home where she lived until her death.
Dorene loved playing cards, cooking, baking and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Ekalaka Bible Church. Her greatest joy in life was being married to her husband, David, for 64 years. Her family will cherish the wonderful memories and will miss her every day.
