Harvest Jubilee in Alzada well attended

October 1st found almost 70 people at the Alzada Community Hall celebrating the arrival of fall and the coming together of community. Doors opened at 4 o'clock with games inside and outside provided by Ashlee Thomas. She also headed up Alzada Community Club's last-minute silent auction which brought in almost $300. It was a great time to relax, visit and enjoy the beautiful weather. It rained in the morning which led to a cool, windless evening perfect for sitting outside catching up with family and friends.

The number of generations present was heart-warming with not only parents and kids in attendance, but also grandparents and even great-grandparents. Supper at 6 o'clock was sloppy Joes with a potluck of sides and desserts. The club is thankful to everyone who brought a dish.

Following supper was the entertainment portion of the evening with featured artists. Jack Owen was MC and for something different Bob Petermann, Jim Hamilton and Brent Voight took turns performing - alternating between music and poetry. The three talented men ended their hour-long performance together with a tribute to the country and the flag with a poem by Johnny Cash. Everyone in the crowd was standing and removed their hats.

Next, the tables were pushed back and people enjoyed two hours of dancing and music provided by deejay Eric Lovec.

After expenses the Alzada Community Club raised $1,600 from this first Harvest Jubilee. Money will go to the general upkeep of the hall, improvements and future events. Several improvements to the building and property are being discussed.

Club meetings are open to the public and all are encouraged to attend. The club thanks everyone who helped organize, set up for, performed at, donated to, and attended the Harvest Jubilee.
