Vera Inez Tauck, 93, of Ekalaka, MT, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus her Savior on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at her residence, Dahl Memorial Healthcare.

Vera was born in Deadwood, South Dakota, 1929, to Irvin & Cecelia (Genre) Richards. She attended Hawks Home School through 8th grade, graduated from Carter County High School, and then went to nursing school in Aberdeen, South Dakota until she married Albert "Sam" Tauck on August 20, 1950. She was a partner to Sam on the ranch running Gelbvieh & crossbred cattle, raising quarter horses, till his death in 1980. She lived as a widow for 42 years. Later in life Vera moved from the ranch to Glendive to be close to her daughter Connie Unruh. In her 90th year Vera moved into Dahl Memorial Healthcare.

Vera was active in the community as a proud member of the Montana Cowbells, Southeastern Cowbells, Carter County Cowbells, the American and Montana Gelbvieh Gals, and lifetime member of the Homemakers Heritage Club. As a dedicated member of Hope Baptist Church she faithfully served the Lord on the board and taught Bible study and Sunday School.

Sam and Vera enjoyed traveling together and even went over to Germany to look at Gelbvieh cattle. Vera was very independent and after Sam's death continued her travels to places like New York City, San Antonio, Texas, Branson, Missouri and went on a cruise to the US Virgin Islands. Her hobbies included reading, playing games, putting puzzles together, needlework, and quilting. Each great grandbaby has a quilt she so lovingly sewed for them. An accomplished cook, she especially enjoyed making cream pies. She loved the beauty in nature, and always had spectacular flower gardens. Always caring to look nice, she took pride in how she dressed. She enjoyed animals, especially her snorting pug, Mitch. Her grandchildren were loved dearly and faithfully supported at all of their concerts and sporting events. She cherished her great-grandchildren and always wanted a picture with them.

She is survived by her son Rod & Teresa Tauck (Hammond), son Roger & Jeanne Tauck (Ronan), and daughter Doug & Connie Unruh (Bloomfield); grandchildren Jess (Tessa) Tauck, Shaun (Lisa) Tauck, Ryan Tauck, Luke (Erica) Tauck, Jason (Janeen) Unruh, and Clayton (Cerise) Unruh; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Vera is preceded in death by her loving husband Sam Tauck; her parents, Irvin & Cecelia Richards; step-mother, Ruby Richards; brother, Roy Richards; baby sister Nina Rose Richards, and sister, Nona Stubblefield.

Memorial contributions can be sent to Trails End Ranch PO Box 460, Ekalaka, MT 59324 or the charity of your choice in her name.
